Meet Kaylene and Chine.

Chine and Kaylene’s story is one of a series of convergences. Born on opposite sides of the world (Nigeria and California, respectively), the two met in residency, where Chine was training as a neurosurgeon, and Kaylene as an obstetrician/gynecologist. The two physicians shared a common love for Africa, and hearts for medical missions. While Chine’s path has taken him to share his gifts through surgical missions and public policy, Kaylene’s passion for women, particularly survivors of sex trafficking, has led her to avenues of education and advocacy. The two carry bright torches of hope and healing for the world, and they recognize that healing often encompasses equipping and strengthening individuals and communities to sustainably take ownership of recovery, processes, and solutions. Here, healing converges at the level of the brain. Trauma, emotions, and memories are stored in the brain, but it is also a powerful resource for healing, creativity, and problem-solving. Chine and Kaylene believe in whole-person care and recovery: involving the body, mind, emotions, and spirit in society with others. They are personally and professionally invested in bringing hope and healing to their local community and to communities around the world through surgical missions, brain-based wellness, and social sustainability.
